A fire gutted a caravan before it spread to a nearby house in the early afternoon.
The fire brigade sent four fire engines to a residential address in a cul-de-sac on Roycraft Avenue, Barking at 2pm today after residents reported the fire.
The vehicle had been parked next to its owners’ house.
Dagenham fire station manager Paul McClenaghan said: “One of the caravan’s gas cylinders had caught fire. When we arrived, the fascia of the house was alight as well
“Two people suffered from smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene. We’re still trying to establish the cause of the fire.”
He said the operation had taken about an hour and a half.
