David, who was better known by his nickname “Dutch”, was shot in the head as he visited friends in St Ann’s on the Gascoigne estate in Barking on Sunday evening.
Friends and classmates from NewVIc College have left candles and flowers at the spot where the 18-year-old was gunned down, and now the community has come together to help his family with funeral costs.
A GoFundMe page was set up yesterday and at the time of writing kind-hearted mourners had already donated £988.
The page asked: “Please donate to this cause if not for his funeral it will still go to his family who are in are thoughts and prayers in this time of great distress.”
David was described as “very family-orientated” and continues: “We hope the money we raise will lift some of the worries felt by his family. Its more than just a donation, we’re giving David the send-off he deserves, rest in peace my friend, always in our hearts x.”
Police are treating his death as murder, and have arrested two 20-year-old men who have both since been released on bail.
