An amateur theatre group raised £514 for Haven House Children’s Hospice during their panto performances.

Barking Music and Drama, who performed Ali Baba at the Ripple Centre in Barking, organised bucket collections for the worthy cause after each of their November performances.

The group handed over the donations to the charity, which provides care to life-limited children and their families, yesterday.

Technical director Daryl Kane said: “They approached us and they originally asked us to put on one of the performances in their name to raise awareness for the hospice.

“We decided to mention them and send a bucket round at the end of each show, which went extremely well and we’re very pleased to have raised this much.”
