Barking Rotary celebrates eight decades of charity

Rotarians from all over the capital came together to celebrate the borough club’s 85 years of charity and conviviality.

Chartered on June 19, 1929, the club has met on a weekly basis for lunch for more than eight decades – and continues to generously support charities, ranging from humanitarian disasters to the championing local causes.

Around 100 people attended the celebrations at the end of May, including fifty Rotarians and five Barking & Dagenham councillors.

The event was marked with a celebratory meal, cake and a brief history of the club by chairman Dennis Bloomfield.
