Hundreds have flocked to an annual Christmas tree festival held by the Salvation Army.
A competition which saw 30 Christmas trees entered, ranging from traditional to novelty, was won by a Hip Hop Dance group who meet at the Salvation Army Hall, Ripple Road, Barking, every week and the winner of the name the fairy competition went to Sandra Darks with the name ‘Twinkabell’.
The hall was kept open for people to decorate their trees, have a drink and socialise.
On Sunday, December 8, a packed audience enjoyed carol singing, a nativity and a visit from Father Christmas.
Barking MP Margaret Hodge, corporate director of children’s services Helen Jenner and retailer Wilkinsons helped contribute to the event.
