A burst water main near the A13 continues to cause traffic chaos two days after crews were called to repair it.

Bastable Avenue in Barking remains shut at the junction with aptly-named River Road, causing knock-on effects on surrounding streets.

The council tweeted on Monday the main “has been fixed”, leaving “significant damage” to nearby roads.

Urgent repairs at the junction are expected to last until tomorrow evening, they added.
