WOODFORD Golf Club president, Peter Willett, hosted the President's Cup qualifier on Saturday where Bill Tyzack headed the list of qualifiers for the matchplay event.
A strokeplay competition with a maximum handicap allowance of 18, the top eight players go through to a matchplay competition in order to decide the ultimate prize-winner.
Tyzack came home with a net 68 off his handicap of nine to pip Malcolm Smith's lowest gross score of 76 (also net 68) on count-back.
The only other player to register a score under the par 70 for the course was veteran Tom Steed with a net 69.
These three are joined by five other players, including club captain Mark Deeming, for the knockout stage.
