A care home for dementia patients in Dagenham raised £707 at its annual summer fête.
Bennetts Castle Care Centre hosted the event to raise cash for a new “sensory garden” for residents.
A local band predominately made up of NHS workers from the ambulance service, The Rumblekatz, played for free at the fete.
Residential staff member Sandra Emmery said: “The band was absolutely brilliant.
“The residents loved the music, sitting outside under the gazebo with their cool drinks.”
The new garden is due to open in October and will be planted with fragrant flowers specifically targeted at dementia sufferers.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came,” added Sandra. “They were very supportive and I’d like to stress it is very much appreciated.”
Awards were also given out. Director Basil Hollington received a plaque commemorating 10 years with Bennetts Castle and Pam Hamilton was handed a gong for being “best manager”.
