STRIKER Paul Benson netted twice as Dagenham & Redbridge overcame League One side Southend United in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The 29-year-old broke the deadlock early in the second half as he netted from close range, before making it 2-0 on 66 minutes, converting a lose ball in the penalty area.
Benson could have had a ha-trick late on, but hit the post after combining well with substitute Wes Thomas.
