A Paul Benson goal sees Daggers emerge 1-0 winners at Burton Albion

COCA-COLA LEAGUE TWO

Burton Albion 0 Daggers 1

by MIKE SIMMONDS

A fourth minute goal from Paul Benson was enough for Daggers to pick up a fine victory at newly-promoted Burton Albion on Saturday.

Benson struck early on, nipping in to convert Scott Griffiths' cross, that had skimmed off the head of Jon Nurse.

Daggers were indebted to a fine penalty save by Tony Roberts on the stroke of half time, after Will Antwi had been adjudged to have fouled Shaun Harrad.

It was Harrad who took the spot-kick, but the veteran Welshman blocked with his legs.

Benson came close again during the first half, while Josh Scott also drove wide after the interval.

The hosts were denied an equaliser late in the match in bizarre fashion, when substitute Greg Pearson went clear and slotted past Roberts, but the linesman flagged once the ball had gone in.

A draw might have been fair for Burton, but Daggers held on and kept their second place in the table.
