THE CITIZENS' Advice Bureau is warning families looking for financial help not to trust advertisements they see for debt solutions.
The economic downturn is costing jobs and banks are reluctant to give out loans but many companies that seem like the answer are not to be trusted.
Chris Evans, from Dagenham CAB, said: "We would encourage people not to look for easy solutions and to come and speak to us if they are unsure.
"Many debt solution companies may want them to sign a contract or make you pay for a credit check.
"Just last week we had someone come in with a newspaper cutting advertising debt solution services that was offering something they shouldn't have.
"People should be aware not all these companies can help with their situation.
