AN 11th-hour bid to stop wheelie bins being rolled out to 50,000 homes has failed.
Only Tory leader Cllr Terry Justice voted against the 2.4million scheme, that will see 91,000 grey and green recycling bins given to low rise households by the winter.
Chadwell Heath ward Cllr Justice temporarily derailed the project with Labour backbencher Cllr John Denyer.
They sought clarifications over the scheme, despite a successful six-month pilot, staged in five areas of Barking and Dagenham.
Cllr Justice said: "The whole thing hasn't been thought through.
"I believe it was a foregone conclusion. The pilot was just a facade.
