BLOOD Brothers, the hugely popular play by Educating Rita author Willy Russell, will be the final production by Sideshow Theatre Company.

It runs at Redbridge Drama Centre, Churchfields, South Woodford, from Thursday to Saturday.

Director Lee Thompson said: "After 12 years of producing shows, Blood Brothers will be Sideshow's last and what a great show to go out on.

"We have had a fantastic time rehearsing it - it really is very funny but socks you between the eyes at the end, when things start to unravel.

" We have a great cast, who have been working really hard, and I know this will be an excellent and fitting goodbye."

Adapted to become one of the West End's longest-running musicals, the play is fast-moving and perceptive, entertaining and thought-provoking, funny yet tragic.

It tells of twin brothers born into a large working class family and the consequences when their mother decides to have one of them adopted.

As the boys grow up, with different and contrasting family backgrounds, a strong friendship grows between them.

Unaware they are brothers, the friendship flourishes until the edges fray, a girl becomes involved and the truth is told...with tragic consequences.

Blood Brothers takes a hilarious look at growing up - from nursery to adolescence and adulthood and explores the boys' relationships with each other and with their real and adopted mothers.
