LUIS BOA MORTE, the forgotten man of Upton Park, is back in light training at Chadwell Heath, and may even play some part before the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Portuguese winger, who cost West Ham 5million when he moved from Fulham in January 2007, has not been in claret and blue since the final match of last season.

He damaged his cruciate ligaments in a clash with Benoit Assou-Ekotto of Spurs in a pre-season tournament in Beijing back in July and hasn't featured since.

Now, seven months later, he has returned to training, and though he is still going through his rehabilitation, there is a chance that he may be ready for a return in May.

Boa Morte had returned to the Portuguese national team at the end of last season, but it would seem that his chances of making this summer's World Cup are very much in the balance, but at least he is on the road to recovery.
