A NEW book with a distinctive West Ham feel will be showcased at Newham Bookshop before Saturday's big match with Blackburn Rovers.

Match Fixer has been written by Dagenham author Neil Humphreys and charts the fictional career of a West Ham Academy footballer to Australia and then Singapore where he comes face to face with the corruption, gambling addiction and violence that has blighted the country.

It may be a fictional account, but many of the incidents have come from true stories that Humphreys has witnessed during his time in Asia as a reporter and writer.

Though largely set in the Far East, for West Ham fans there are still plenty of references to the club, plenty of action occurring in Dagenham, Newham and Chadwell Heath and so plenty for the Hammers supporter to get his teeth into.

The author will be at the Newham Bookshop in Barking Road, close to the World Cup winners' statue from 1.30pm, where he will be signing copies and will be available for a chat about his experiences.

Why not pop in and have a look?
