One year on from the vote to leave the European Union, our Brexit-backing borough is being urged to make its voice heard in negotiations.

Although 59.9 per cent of London voters backed remaining in the EU on Thursday, June 23, 2016, Barking and Dagenham was one of five London boroughs to declare a leave vote, with 62.4pc backing Brexit.

As the UK negotiates with the EU, London Assembly Member for City and East Unmesh Desai is keen to hear what Barking and Dagenham wants from Brexit so he can present his findings to the government and mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

“It is vital local people and local businesses have a voice,” he said. “The government have a duty to listen to what Londoners want out of the deal they’re trying to secure.”
