WOODFORD Golf Club played its February medal at the weekend where Bill Tyzack returned to form with a fine victory.
Local surveyor Tyzack managed to accumulate 38 points in Division One, with the medal played as a stableford competition, as a winter experiment.
Tyzack won on a count back from Colin Hunt, while captain Mark Deeming played to handicap with 36 points in third place.
In Division Two, builder David Warden constructed a winning 39 points, two clear of John Raine, with South African Eion Botha third with 36.
n THERE was a tinge of sadness, though, following the death at the start of the week of octogenarian Deric Bareford, a former Olympian, who took up golf in his 60s.
"A great character, Deric will be sorely missed at the club," said a club spokesperson.
