BRITAIN'S oldest man, former Ford worker Henry Allingham, has celebrated his 112th birthday in style.

The great great great grandfather, who began work with the Ford Motor Company in 1919 and remained there right up until his retirement, spent his special day last week surrounded by family and friends.

Born on June 6, 1896, Henry is the only surviving founder member of the RAF and was honoured by a flypast during the celebration, by the vintage aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

He told reporters that he is already looking forward to his next birthday.
