Two of Barking and Dagenham’s buildings have gone green to mark one year since the Grenfell Tower fire.
Barking Town Hall and the Civic Centre in Dagenham - now home to CU London - have been illuminated in tribute to the 72 people who lost their lives as a result of the blaze.
They are among hundreds of buildings around the country to change colour for the anniversary of the fire, which took place in the early hours of June 14 last year.
Deputy council leader Cllr Saima Ashraf said: “The public outpouring following the tragedy shows how strong and powerful a community that is united can be.
“We are standing with the survivors and those affected to share their powerful message of unity and diversity.”
Going green is the idea of Grenfell United, a group set up following the fire by some survivors and their families, with the aim of bringing people together.
