Next month’s Barking and Dagenham Business Awards ceremony is expected to be one of the biggest ever, with almost twice as many local companies entering than last year.
The borough’s businesses have also been broadening their chances of success with the total number of entries across the nine categories up by 115 per cent from 2013.
The glitzy gala awards ceremony takes place at Barking’s Broadway Theatre on Thursday, July 3, and every shortlisted company will have the chance to meet guest host Anton Du Beke - TV presenter and favourite of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Barking restaurant Christina’s Steaks, of North Street, will provide the evening’s catering.
Living The Dream, which helps aspiring Barking and Dagenham athletes achieve their Commonwealth or Olympic goals, has been chosen as the special charity for the night.
