Barking’s former magistrate court could be turned into a restaurant or cafe with flats above, according to the council.
The listed building, in East Street, has been bought by a developer who is expected to submit a planning application in the next couple on months.
A council spokesman said: “We have had discussions with a developer about converting the courthouse into a restaurant/café on the basement/ground floor with apartments above and extending the building at the rear to provide more commercial space on the ground floor with apartments above.”
