Dagenham Sunday Market has been given the green light to carry on trading for three years pending major works at the site.

The market in River Road was launched 10 years ago and draws up to 15,000 bargain hunters a week.

But traders may have to move after 2015 to make way for the Barking Riverside development, which is to comprise more than 10,000 homes.

Market boss Frank Nash celebrated after his trading company, Charfleets, was granted a three-year extension at a planning meeting on Monday night.
