Ford Dagenham is set to reach a new milestone this year with 40million engines expected to have been built since the factory opened in 1931.
Workers at the factory in Chequers Lane are expected to hit the landmark before their annual holiday this August.
Car production ceased in 2002 but the factory has become a major producer of diesel engines.
