THE OWNER of a cat that went missing after climbing in the boot of a car is asking residents to help find him.

Billy the cat has been sighted near Trinity School after travelling from Leatherhead to Temple while trapped in a car boot.

The missing moggy then escaped cat carers while in Dagenham and now his family are desperate to find him.

Lynne Darley, Billy's owner, said: "We really need help from the people of Dagenham to find our precious cat and it would be fantastic to have him back in our home."

Billy went missing on the evening of November 5, he climbed into the boot of someone's car, who then drove to the Temple area in London.

After finding out Billy was in Temple, Lynne, 49, and her husband Brian, 57, made trips to the area to put up posters and try to track him down.

They were told by a resident that he had passed the cat over to a lady who lives in the Dagenham area. It was her intention to take the cat to a friend of hers who used to care for injured and lost animals. However when she went to get out of her car outside of the friends house, the cat jumped out.

Lynne added: "The cat has been spotted near Marston Avenue and Edgehill Gardens. We have been making three hour round trips to put posters up and try and get our cat back. His brother is at home and is called Sam. He has stopped eating since Billy went missing and is very upset.

"I was never a cat lover until we adopted these two cats four years ago and I will be devastated if we can't get Billy back. If everyone in Dagenham could keep their eye out for him then it would mean the world to us."
