Captain James Cook was married to Elizabeth Batts in St Margaret's Church, Barking, on December 21 1762.
His journal from the last of three voyages he made to the Pacific Ocean is expected to fetch 25,000 to 35,000 at auction.
It was on this final journey to the islands of the Pacific in 1779 that Cook was killed by natives in Hawaii.
