Move over Notting Hill! The first-ever Barking Riverside Carnival took place last Saturday with smiles and sequins galore.

Over 200 people attended the event at the Rivergate Centre in Minter Road.

Activities included Brazilian-style carnival dancers, a steel drum band and jerk chicken staff run by local café owner Mr Nice.

Kids ate candy floss, bounced on inflatable castles and faced down a fearsome bucking bronco.

Local community group Triangoals organised the event, supported by Barking Riverside, which ran from midday until 7pm.
