A MASSIVE government cash boost will be used to refurbish a popular community centre.

Ripple Community Centre, in St Erkenwald Road, Barking, is home to a number of organisations and voluntary groups, has secured a 932,750 grant.

The money will help refurbish the ground floor and construct a two-storey extension.

It will also see the creation of office space, a meeting room, and a community caf.

The council received the funds from the Government's Community Asset scheme.

The council will then transfer ownership of the building to the Barking and Dagenham Council for Voluntary Services on a 25-year lease.
