A POPULAR charity has received a welcome cash boost, thanks to POST reporters who sweated their way through a sponsored run.

Last June we took part in the Barking and Dagenham Run through East-brookend Country Park, Dagenham.

Our efforts were in aid of Shopmobility, the charity which provides scooters to the elderly and disabled when they go shopping.

And we handed over a cheque for £173 to Adam Thompson at Shopmobility's new office in Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking.

Sponsorship money was generously doubled by Archant, publishers of the POST, as part of their Archant Gold scheme.

Adam said: "With Vicarage Field getting us our new premises we've been able to raise our profile. Donations like this help us to build up our general funds to develop the scheme further.
