A casting company boss is looking for a woman who has never acted before to star in a BBC funded feature film.
Lara Manwaring is looking for a 20 to 30-year-old woman born and bred in the borough to play a lead role in a BBC Films and British Film Institute feature film.
The role is based on a mum who grew up on an estate along with her best friend, who has already been cast.
The boss of company Lara Manwaring Casting – who was involved in casting Channel 4 drama Top Boy and Welsh BAFTA award-winning feature Ellen – said: “We think this is a great opportunity to try out for a really special film for women who maybe haven’t thought about acting before.
“We are not looking for an actress. This could potentially be a life-changing opportunity.”
A woman with no previous acting experience - who applied after spotting the story in the Post and applied – has already been cast in one of the two lead roles.
Casting assistant Lucy Amos said Lara Manwaring Casting is known in the film industry for its different way of finding talent and often casts people who have never acted before.
Ms Manwaring was involved in casting schoolboy Tom Sweet who appeared alongside Robert Pattinson in 2015 film The Childhood of a Leader.
The filmmakers plan to start filming in October this year.
Ms Manwaring said the movie’s director has worked with non actors on all his short films and is keen to do the same on this feature as he finds it would make the film more authentic.
