CONCERNED animal lovers are seeking a cat's owner after it was viciously mown down by a car driver.

The incident occurred in Ballards Road, Dagenham at around 11.15am on Wednesday, February 27.

Jackie O'Brien, who was driving at the time, said: "I saw a beautiful cat start to cross on the other side of the road.

"There was a car driving towards it and the driver must have seen her. I looked in my review mirror and I saw the car ram the cat and drive off. The cat flew up into the air and landed on the road."

Jackie stopped her car and took the injured feline to Pets At Home in Romford for treatment.

Nurses said that she had cuts and bruises and a suspected fractured pelvis.

Jackie added: "She looked so well cared for, someone must be waiting for her to come home."

The cat is female, with semi-long browny-grey hair and unusual white markings around its mouth.

If you know the owner call (020) 8709 0012.
