YOUNGSTERS in the borough have been recognised for their outstanding achievements at The Barking and Dagenham Rising Star Awards.
Ten awards were given out to individuals and groups who had shown a real commitment and dedication to the community over the past year.
Categories included Young Achiever of the Year, Musician/Band of the Year, Young Volunteer and Young Carer.
Eastbury School said they were 'extremely pleased' that two of their Year 11 students picked up accolades at the ceremony, held at Castle Green, Dagenham on January 22.
Ben Bickford won the volunteer prize, and Jack Baldwin was crowned Sportperson of the Year. Both boys are members of school sports teams and often help coach Year 7s.
Cllr Jeanne Alexander, executive member for children's services, said: "The Rising Star Awards are a Blue Ribbon event for the borough. It's important that our young people are recognised for their contribution to the local community."
