A sponsored walk in memory of a friend raised more than £300 for charity.
Barking and Dagenham Plus, a social group for young adults, organised the sponsored nine mile walk to remember Adrian Pembroke, who died of cancer a few years ago.
The fundraiser, which raised money for several cancer charities, took place around Canvey Island on September 12.
Chairman Richard Leach said: “Every September we hold a charity fundraising event in his [Adrian’s] honour.
“We also put on other events throughout the year and we intend to be stage a charity darts tournament nearer to home in Chadwell Heath later in 2015.”
Barking and Dagenham Plus meet every Tuesday from 9pm at the White Horse in High Road, Chadwell Heath. If you are interested in joining the group call Joe Gurney on 07958 669339, or visit barkingdagenhamplus.com.
