More than £1,000 was raised at Warren Comprehensive’s summer fete on Saturday.

The event was attended by more than 100 people who enjoyed activities ranging from throwing sponges at teachers in the stocks to sumo wrestling in giant inflatable outfits.

All proceeds will go to the school in Whalebone Lane North, Chadwell Heath.

Des Amey, assistant headteacher, said: “It was a fantastic day and really worth all the effort that was put into it.”

Students and staff from the school had been invited to give singing and dance performances.

Wellgate Farm brought some of its animals along, which were a huge hit with many children at the fete wanting to pet them.

Mr Amey added that the event was extremely successful and it intends to hold many more in the future.
