THE COUNCIL'S top boss has been named as one of the ten most influential people in local government.
Rob Whiteman came eighth in the 50-strong list which has been compiled by the Local Government Chronicle magazine.
He is the only London chief executive to be named in the top ten.
Mr Whiteman said: "On a personal level I'm honoured to be considered so highly among my peers in local government.
"Every day serving Barking and Dagenham is a privilege and I cherish every minute I'm lucky enough to work here."
First place in the list was Local Government Minister John Healey MP, followed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
