WEST HAM technical director Gianluca Nani has admitted that Inter Milan striker Luis Jimenez is close to the top of the club's shopping list this summer.

The Chilean international, nicknamed 'El Mago' (The Wizard) is highly regarded in Italy, but has played just 21 games for Inter in two seasons at the club.

Jimenez, who turns 25 next week, is deemed surplus to requirements by Inter coach Jose Mourinho and Nani confessed that he is an admirer of the fast striker.

"He is a great player," said Nani. "One that we have always followed."

Nani did sound a word of caution concerning the player, who has notched up 24 international appearances for Chile, though he has played all his football in Italy.

"He is a possibility, but nothing is certain," he insisted. "He is also a non-EU player and it is not easy to get a permit for these players in England."

With Jimenez a regular international in Chile a permit does seem likely, with the big problem being whether three goals in 21 appearances for Inter, makes him good enough for the Premier League.
