A team of Barking and Dagenham College students gave a dementia care home a spring makeover.
The 11 students, who are on the Prince’s Trust programme, built a sensory garden, a vegetable patch and a pond at The Lodge Dementia Care Home, in Collier Row.
The group managed to raise more than £350 from fundraising at HMRC’s headquarters, in Westminster and at the college by selling muffins, cakes and chocolates, to buy the materials to paint, decorate and rejuvenate the care home.
Charlie Pearce, Prince’s Trust team leader, said: “The team worked extremely hard to complete this project and they made us extremely proud.
“The care home really appreciated our work and sent the team a lovely letter of thanks.”
The Prince’s Trust programme gives unemployed 16 to 25-year-olds the skills and confidence to move into employment, education or training,
