PEACOCK Boxing Club face losing the services of heavyweight Wadi Camacho, who has been training with the national squad in Sheffield.

Club competition secretary Phil Macdonald said: "Wadi's place on the national squad means that the club virtually lose control of the boxer, but it is obviously a real boost for his career.

"He has done really well and is hoping for the heavyweight berth in the Great Britain squad, which faces America in the United States next month."

Peacock boxers will be in action on several club shows in October before competing at their own dinner tournament at Epping in November.

* WEST HAM BC return to the East Ham Working Mens' Club, Boleyn Road, East Ham, for their first show of the new boxing season on Friday, October 16.

Club official Jimmy Murphy is arranging the bill with his prospects matched against rivals from visiting clubs, including Finchley, Dagenham and Barking.

Local amateurs are also booked for action on the Dagenham BC show at the Dagenham Park Community School on Saturday night and the Barking BC dinner tournament at the Prince Regent Hotel, Chigwell, on Friday October 9.
