The 52 victims of the July 7 attacks were unlawfully killed, a coroner ruled today.

Ex-Barking Abbey student Shahara Islam, 20, Lee Baisden, 34, of Melford Avenue, Barking, and mum-of-two Gladys Wundowa, 50, of Salcombe Drive, Chadwell Heath, were killed in coordinated blasts in 2005.

Lee was sitting right next to suicide bomber Shehzad Tanweer when he blew himself up at Aldgate station, while Gladys and Shahara were killed in the Tavistock Square bus attack.

Coroner Lady Justice Hallett said: “With the considerable assistance of my legal team I have prepared and I alone have reached verdicts of unlawful killing on the 52 innocent people killed by the four bombs.

“I should like to thank the bereaved families, who lost their loved ones on July 7 2005, for their understanding, their support and their quiet dignity.”
