A boy was hit by a car in Becontree Avenue, Dagenham, this afternoon – leaving him with chest and leg injuries.

The 10-year-old was taken to the Royal London Hospital by ambulance, and London’s Air Ambulance was also sent to the scene, near the junction with Longbridge Road.

Ambulance staff were unable to give more detail about the boy’s condition.

Police said no one had been arrested over the crash. Roads are shut in the area and motorists are advised to find alternative routes where possible.
