A Dagenham has been fined hundreds of pounds after punching a tube worker in the face.

Tony Ambrose, 27, bickered with a man on a District Line train at Monument station when a member of rail staff arrived to calm them down.

After he was asked to stop arguing, Ambrose attacked him and “carried on fighting”, said British Transport Police.

Ambrose, of Cambeys Road, pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating after the incident, which took place last July.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court ordered him to pay a £242 fine, compensation of £100, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs earlier this month.
