An officer cadet with the Royal Navy has taken part in a royal parade to mark the successful completion of her initial training.
Slt Aimee Sadler, 25, from Dagenham, joined the navy in May 2012 and has finished a 30 week intensive course at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) in Dartmouth.
His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, Duke of York, was the guest of honour at the parade which saw Slt Sadler and her fellow cadets march out in front of their families to celebrate their formal commissioning.
The former pupil of Langdon Secondary School in Barking studied Geology at the University of Leicester and then went on to study a Masters degree in the same subject, graduating in 2011. SLt Sadler said: “I joined Her Majesty’s Royal Navy for a rewarding and challenging career and for a job where something different happens every single day.
“I feel exceptionally proud to have taken part and completed the arduous Naval training at BRNC. I have made many friends and had experiences I never before thought possible.”
With her basic training complete, SLt Sadler will remain at BRNC for her specialist training to become a warfare officer.
