A resident has described how he saw dozens of police officers on the chase for two suspected burglars in Dagenham.

William Frost, of Jack Jones Way, said around 30 police were in his street at around 11.15am today looking for two people believed to have carried out a burglary, while a police helicopter hovered above.

“I’ve never seen so many police before,” he told the Post. “There must have been around 30 officers. Some of them were going through the back gardens of the houses here with their dogs and looking in people’s sheds.

“I heard they’d caught one and were still hunting two people.”

Mr Frost, 74, said he did not believe there was a big problem with burglaries in the area.
