Shah Rahman, from Longbridge Road, was one of a gang dealing drugs from a car parked in a quiet cul-de-sac in Bromley-by-Bow.

The other three were also jailed including one man who was given 30 years for murder.

They got into an argument with one of the neighbours, 41-year-old Brenton Roper - then shot him in the back, chased him down the street and stabbed him five times before he collapsed and died.

Rahman was sentenced for manslaughter at the Old Bailey yesterday, along with two others, Monzur Ahmed, 27, from Bromley-by-Bow, who was given nine years, and Foyzur Rahman, 28, from Stepney Green, jailed for 10 years.

The fourth man, Mohammed Shaid, 27, from Bromley-by-Bow, was convicted of murder and jailed for 30 years for Brenton’s killing in May last year.

“My life feels so very empty without Brenton,” his fiancé Mandy Bourne said after sentencing.

“I go through the day-to-day motions for the sake of my children, but really feel like I no longer have a future without him.

“I am numb—there is a deep, dark hole in my heart.”

Air ambulance paramedics tried to save Brenton’s life, but he died at the scene. A post-mortem gave cause of death as gunshot injuries. He was shot in the back and stabbed five times.

Shah Rahman fled abroad after the shooting, but was tracked down in September, having been on the run for four months.

Det Insp Dan Setter said: “This was a brazen attack in broad daylight, shooting a man in the back, stabbing him and chasing him down the street.

“The four tried to portray this as ‘self-defence’ and an accidental shooting — which the jury clearly saw through.”

Detectives traced gang members on CCTV in the area, seen shortly before the murder when Shah Rahman was spotted walking towards the street where the shooting occurred and later seen running from the murder scene.
