A 19-year-old has been rushed to hospital after a suspected noxious substance attack at Barking and Dagenham College.
Emergency services were called to the Dagenham Road, Dagenham further education college shortly before 1pm this afternoon following reports of an assault.
Metropolitan Police officers, an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast response car attended and found the victim suffering from assault related injuries.
“He is also believed to have had a noxious substance thrown at him,” said a police spokesman, who added that none of the victim’s injuries appear serious.
A spokeswoman for Barking and Dagenham College, meanwhile, told the Post: “As far as we are aware no acid was involved”.
“We contacted the police and will be carrying out our own investigation,” she said.
The first paramedic on the scene arrived within five minutes of the alleged assault, with medics treating the victim and taking him to hospital.
Police from East Area borough command continue to deal with the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing with no arrests made.
