An illegal trader in Barking Market has been caught unlawfully selling fake perfume on a stall he didn’t have a licence for.
Following a tip-off from market inspectors, council officers were joined by the police as they apprehended the man.
He was found in possession of fake perfumes.
An image of the man will now be circulated to markets across east London so other councils can look out for him.
Jonathon Toy, operational director for enforcement services, said: “It is vitally important market traders in our borough are fully licenced, so that we are aware of the products they are selling to members of the public on our stalls.
“This man’s apprehension should serve as a warning to anyone considering trading without a licence or selling counterfeit goods - our enforcement teams will catch you in the act and your goods will be confiscated.”
