A bemused motorcyclist found his £3000 bike missing one morning as he got up to go to work, despite it being chained to the ground.
Paul Lazarus, 40, said his bike, a black Suzuki SV650s, was alarmed and anchored to the ground with a “highly robust chain” outside his home in Valence Avenue, Dagenham.
The bike was taken overnight on Tuesday last week. It is the second time Paul has had a bike stolen from the property.
“I literally came out in the morning looking for the bike to go to work and there was nothing there,” said Paul.
“I don’t know how they have got through the chain. It was a highly robust chain. They say it would take 30 minutes with an angle grinder to break it and I have really no idea how it has come off.”
Paul, an avid rider of 18 years, said he had been looking forward to riding it this summer and that to have it taken now was “heartbreaking”.
He said the thieves might have rolled the bike away, possibly into a waiting van, as there was no noise made to alert him to the theft, with his dog not even barking.
Police are investigating the theft. Anyone with information concerning should contact Barking and Dagenham Police by dialling 101 and quoting reference number 5107785/13.
