Police are looking for a man who indecently assaulted an 11-year-old girl on a train between Chadwell Heath and Maryland.

The attack took place last Tuesday (May 19) on the 3.42pm service from Chadwell Heath Station to Liverpool Street.

DetCon Sally Everritt, the investigating officer, said: “The victim was travelling home from school and boarded at Chadwell Heath.

“Shortly after taking a seat, she was approached by a man who sat down next her and began talking to her.

“He then pulled her into the rear carriage and touched her indecently.

“The train arrived at Maryland whereby she ran from the carriage and fled the station. The incident was then reported to police.”

The man also got off the train at Maryland but had left the station by the time police arrived.

He is described as black, of thin build, aged between 25 and 30 years old and 6ft 2inches tall.

He had a small moustache and beard and was wearing a red t-shirt, red baseball cap, and a dark body warmer with red lining.

The victim was wearing a white polo-shirt, black leather jacket, black trousers and white trainers

DetCon Everitt added: “Both the victim and the man were initially sat in one of the rear coaches of what is typically a busy service. I want to speak to anyone who was travelling on this train and who saw either the victim or the man we are trying to identify.”
