A car with £40million worth of heroin crammed into almost every available space has been seized by police in Dagenham.
The 198kg stash was found in a Jaguar delivered to a business in the Church Elm Lane area. The Class A drugs, stored in more than 130 tightly-wrapped parcels, were found in the bumpers, wheel arches, dashboard, central console, spare wheel compartment, engine and rear seating.
Police responded in the early hours of Saturday morning and arrested two men 50 miles away in Luton.
The pair – Israr Khan, 34, of St Ethelbert Avenue, Luton, and Noman Qureshi, 32, of Bracken Hill Mews, Bradford – were charged with conspiracy to supply heroin and appeared before Luton Magistrates Court on Monday.
They remain in custody and will appear in front of Luton Crown Court on December 24. The investigation remains ongoing.
