The number of reported acid attacks rose by almost a third across the UK in the past two years.

Police figures show there were 242 reports of violent crime which mentioned acid or other corrosive substances across 23 forces in 2014 and 2015, compared to 186 alleged offences in 2012 and 2013.

An 18-year-old man was arrested last month after a face-burning assault on a 17-year-old in Station Parade, Barking – he was bailed to return later this year.

And Naomi Oni suffered burns to her face and chest in an acid attack in Lodge Avenue Dagenham in 2012. Her attacker was jailed for 12 years.
