The MPV-type vehicle was driving along Longbridge Road directly behind the silver Ford Focus that ran over Cissy Howlett, 54, on Sunday, February 1.

The driver, who police believe could be key to the investigation, stopped and spoke with other witnesses but left the scene before police arrived.

He is described as an Asian man in his 40s and was wearing a black woollen hat. He was with a young boy aged about five years old at the time.

Cissy was knocked down at the junction of Longbridge Road and Wilmington Road at about 8.05pm. She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died about an hour later. A post-mortem gave her cause of death as multiple injuries.

Officers are investigating if more than one vehicle was involved in the incident. The car(s) involved in the collision did not stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-March.
